For all written assignments, be it an essay for school or a narrative report for work, you need to choose a line spacing. Most people prefer to write with a double space between the lines, because it makes it easier for the reader to follow the course of the text. How you format your spaces depends on the word processing program you are using. Put a double line spacing in your works by setting the correct parameters, for an entire document or for a certain amount of text.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Double Leading in Microsoft Word

Step 1. Open the document you are working on
It can be a blank document if you are planning to format it in its entirety and haven't started writing it yet.

Step 2. Create a default setting, which will ensure that the entire document has double spacing
- Look in the styles group on the toolbar. On the Home tab, right-click Normal. Once the menu appears, click Modify.
- Find the Format option and click the Double Leading button.
- Click OK. This will set the entire document to a double-spaced format.

Step 3. Create an area within your document where you want double spacing
This can be a section of text in a single-spaced document or in a document with even larger spacing.
- Select the text you want to double spacing.
- Click Line Spacing and Paragraph Spacing, which can be found in the Paragraph group on the Home tab.
- Click option 2.0. This will make the area of the document you selected double spaced.
Method 2 of 3: Double Leading in WordPerfect Programs

Step 1. Use the leading feature in WordPerfect to create a double space between lines in an entire document or just part of it

Step 2. Click on “format”
You will see a menu offering the "line" option. Click "line" and then "line spacing."

Step 3. Enter 2, 0 in the Spacing field that appears
Instead of offering a few options, WordPerfect will ask you to create your own line spacing values. A value of 2.0 means double spacing.

Step 4. Remember that double spacing will be applied to the part of the text where the cursor is positioned
Place the course at the top of the page if you want the entire document to have double spacing. The entire document will have double spacing unless you reconfigure it to another value, for example 1, 0 for single spacing
Method 3 of 3: Double Leading in Google Docs

Step 1. Open Google Docs in your browser
Log in to your account if you are not automatically logged in, and look for the summary of your Google documents.

Step 2. Click on the text document in the list that you want to double spacing
Click "create new" if you are starting a new document and want to use double spacing

Step 3. Select the text area where you want to apply double spacing
If you want the entire document to have double spacing, or you are creating a new document, press the "control" (Ctrl) key together with the A key.

Step 4. Click on “format”
When you see the options, click on "line spacing." Four options will appear.
