Mixing a deck is often the first step in starting to play any game. There are different ways of shuffling a deck, from simple overhand shuffling to more advanced Indian shuffling or riffle shuffle shuffling. If you want to learn how to mix a deck like a pro, follow these simple steps.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Mix in hand

Step 1. Hold the deck horizontally with your dominant hand

Place your pinky, ring, and middle finger on the opposite side of the deck, and place your thumb on the end of the deck closest to you. Use your index finger as a support on top.

Step 2. Place the bottom of the deck on the palm of your other hand

Step 3. Lift half of the deck (roughly) from the back while placing your free thumb on the front of the deck

Your thumb should exert a little pressure, but you should be ready to remove it.

Step 4. Let go of a portion of the raised cards onto the front of the deck

Your thumb should move away when the deck goes down, and then come back to push the deck portion. Pick up what is left of the original portion you picked up and lay it over the front while removing your thumb again. Lower your thumb back down to move another portion of the deck. Repeat this process until you have shuffled all the cards you raised.

Remember to mix the decks gently. If you grip them too tightly with your upper hand, it will be difficult to slowly let them slide into the palm of your other hand

Step 5. Repeat this process a few times

Keep mixing until you've done it about five or six times. As you keep practicing, you will become more comfortable with this method and you will begin to do it more quickly.

Step 2. Place the deck on the palm of your other hand

Use your free hand to lightly hold the side of the deck with your thumb on one side, and your middle and ring fingers on the other. The index must remain free in front.

Step 3. Carefully take a few cards from the top of the deck with your bottom hand

Use your bottom hand to take several cards (around ten) and put them in the palm of your hand.

Step 4. Move the deck away from your lower hand

Move the deck just one deck away from the pool of cards that you left in the palm of your other hand.

Step 5. Repeat mixing until all the cards are in your hand

Return the deck to the palm of your lower hand, take a few more cards, move the deck away, and put it back again. Repeat this process until all the cards in the deck end up on the palm of your lower hand. You can repeat the entire process a few more times to mix your deck well.

Step 2. Hold both halves

Both hands must have the same position. To hold the two halves of the deck, place your thumb on the top edge and use your middle and ring fingers to hold the bottom. Place your pinky on the back. Your index should go to the front or it can just fly over the deck.

Step 3. Gently fold the two halves of the deck together

Use your thumbs, index fingers, and hands to bend the halves a little into a curved shape, with the middle of the decks pointing inward.

Step 4. Flick through the deck with your thumbs

Fold the halves of the deck a little more and slowly move your thumbs up. The cards from both halves of the deck should go down together, mixing.

Step 5. Carry out the final waterfall

Fold the cards toward you, in the opposite direction from where you folded them earlier. Keep your thumbs on top to keep the cards lined up. Then let your thumbs go so the deck cascades down.

Step 6. Repeat the mixture by leafing (optional)

If you want to mix the deck better, just repeat the process.
