You can make a unicorn horn for a costume, to decorate a party, or just for fun. This craft is so much fun to do and is a great activity to do with a child. Whether it's cardboard, a party hat, or a foam headband, you can create a fabulous unicorn horn.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Make a Paper Horn

Step 1. Get thick paper
In order to make a unicorn horn, you will need a thick, heavy piece of paper. Cardstock or scrapbooking paper would be best.
You can use decorative paper to make your horn unique

Step 2. Cut the paper into a cone shape
Draw a large triangle with a rounded base on the paper. Cut along the line of the triangle shape. Next, cut off the top point of the triangle to make that part straight.

Step 3. Roll the paper into a cone
Start with one side of the triangle and roll it to the other side, making the triangle become a cone. Tape the outside of the cone to secure it. Next, place a piece of tape around the edge of the paper, but on the inside of the cone to give it more stability.
Try to make the base of the cone the size of the top rim of a cup of milk so that it is shaped like a horn

Step 4. Tie a bow or elastic
Use a hot glue gun to glue a bow or piece of elastic to the base of the horn. Glue one end of the bow to the inside of one side of the horn and do the same with the other side.

Step 5. Decorate your unicorn horn
You can decorate your horn to add some finishing touches and make it unique. Be creative and express yourself! There are several things you can use to decorate your horn:
- painting
- ties
- Frost
- labels
- markers or crayons
Method 2 of 3: Turn a Party Hat into a Horn

Step 1. Get a party hat
To make your unicorn horn, you need one of these hats that is made of thin cardboard. You can find it at a party store and some grocery stores.

Step 2. Undo the party hat
Find the attachment point of the hat and undo it so that you can unroll it until it lays flat. If the party hat is taped, remove or cut it to undo it. If the hat is stuck, use scissors to carefully separate it. Then unroll the hat.
Keep the elastic glued

Step 3. Roll the hat more than normal
To make the horn, you need to re-roll the hat again, but more than it was before. Start with one side of the party hat and roll it to the other side in a tighter roll. Keep rolling until you get the shape of a cone.

Step 4. Tape the hat
Use tape to make the hat cone-shaped. You can also use a hot glue gun or tape several pieces to the outside edge of the hat to help keep the shape.

Step 5. Use your new unicorn horn
Place the base of the horn on the top of your forehead and pull the elastic to the back of your head; so you can use your new unicorn horn.
Method 3 of 3: Make a Foam Horn Headband

Step 1. Get a 9 x 12 inch (22 cm x 30 cm) sheet of foam
You need to have large pieces of foam to make a headband out of a horn. You can get it from a local craft store or you can buy it online.
Self-adhesive foam sheets are good for this project

Step 2. Draw a diagonal line on the foam
On the back of the foam sheet, use a ruler to draw a diagonal line from the bottom left corner to 1 inch (2.5 cm) before the top right corner.

Step 3. Cut along the line
Use scissors to cut along the line you just drew. You will end up getting a shape that looks like a triangle with a straight corner.

Step 4. Roll the foam into a cone
Start with the bottom left of the foam and roll to the bottom right corner to form a cone. Keep rolling until the top corner is completely wrapped around the cone.

Step 5. Stick the foam
Apply hot glue from the top corner to the bottom to make sure the cone holds its shape. You can also put some glue on the inside so the cone stays in place.

Step 6. Cut out the bottom of the cone
Use scissors to trim the bottom of the cone so that it is even and the cone can stand on a table.

Step 7. Cut a border at the bottom of the cone
Use scissors to make ½ inch (½ cm) maximum cuts in the bottom of the cone. Cut every ½ inch (1.3 cm) around the entire length to create a fringed edge.

Step 8. Cut a circle from the leftover foam
Use the remaining foam to cut a circle that is 1 cm larger than the diameter of the bottom of the cone.

Step 9. Glue the foam to the headband
Get a plastic headband so you can stick your horn there. Use a hot glue gun to glue the foam circle to the bottom center of the headband. Next, place the cone on top of the headband, just above the foam circle, and attach it to the foam circle by placing glue on each part of the edge.

Step 10. Add ornaments
Make your unicorn horn headband unique by adding embellishments. Use your imagination and make it yours.
- Place jewelry on the horn and headband.
- Glue bows that fall from the top of the horn.
- Use glitter glue to add more designs.
