You can use craft paper to make basic ears. If you want to make some more realistic, you can use cardstock or fuzzy felt.

Method 1 of 2: Make Paper Ears

Step 1. Gather your supplies

To make paper cat ears you only need transparent tape, craft paper (a sheet of paper is enough), ruler, scissors and a headband (headband). You can use glue instead of duct tape if you don't have clear tape.

Wear a headband that matches your hair color so it doesn't stand out when you wear your costume

Step 2. Draw your cat ears

Draw two equilateral triangles on the craft paper. The size of the ears will be fine with 7.5 cm (3 inches) per side. After drawing the triangle, add 1/2 inch (1 cm) to the base. This will help you attach the base of the ears to your headband.

Step 3. Cut the ears

Use the scissors to cut the ears. Line them up to make sure they are the same size. When they are the same size, make a 1/2-inch fold along the bottom.

Step 4. Glue the ears to the headband

Place the headband in the fold of your cat ears so that it rests on the fold. If you are using duct tape, simply fold the ears around the headband and tape around them. If you use rubber, put it in the fold of the ears and glue them to the inside of the headband.

Hot glue will hold your cat ears better. However, if you are using a plastic headband, be careful not to burn it

Method 2 of 2: Making Furry Ears

Step 1. Gather your supplies

To make furry ears, you will need 2 paper clips, furry felt, cardboard, rubber (a hot glue gun or fabric glue is best), ruler, scissors. Black hair clips are too thin, so make sure you get clips that are at least 1/2-inch wide. Use flat hooks, French hooks, or crocodile hooks.

Step 2. Cut off the ears

Cut the cardstock and fabric for your ears. You can make either triangular or oval ears, depending on how you want to look. To make triangular ears, cut 2 equilateral triangles out of construction paper.

Step 3. Cut the fabric

Wrap the fabric around the cardboard pieces to give it the shape you want. Draw a line where you want to cut. Mark it on the inside of the fabric. Add 1/2-inch (1 cm) to that stroke and cut the fabric.

Step 4. Glue the fabric to the cardboard

Glue the fabric around the cardboard ears. They will look better if you wrap them from top to bottom and glue them at the base of the ears.

Step 5. Fold 1/2-inch (1 cm) from the bottom to the back of the triangle

Step 6. Glue the hooks at the base of the ears

Hot glue the hooks to the base of the back of the ears. Glue the ears to the top of the hooks so that the bottom is over your head when you put them on.
