A ninja suit should be dark, comfortable and help you hide so that you can move like a real one. You can make a costume without having to sew, you only need a black turtleneck, black cargo pants, and a thin robe with the same color. You will also need a black scarf, black ribbon or ribbon, black boots, a black long-sleeved shirt, and black gloves. Find four red and black shirts to make the protectors of your pants, and finally, accessories (ninja stars, for example) and thus, your costume will be complete!
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Create the Ninja Shirt and Pants
Step 1. Tuck the turtleneck into the cargo pants
Put on the long-sleeved, turtleneck shirt and a pair of straight-cut cargo pants that are a bit loose.
- If you don't have a black turtleneck, a white one may work. Make sure the main details of the costume are white as well.
- If you don't have cargo pants, try leggings, skinny jeans, or black tights.
Step 2. Tie a small part of the black ribbon around each ankle
All cargo pants are straight cut, but ninja pants are tapered at the ankles. To achieve the same effect, tie the tape over the pants at the ankles. Tie the knots very well.
Step 3. Get a kimono or a short robe
Real kimonos are often expensive, so a thin satin or cotton robe is the perfect substitute. You can get them at any department store. Make sure it comes with its belt!
- If you can't find an all-black robe, look for one with brightly colored accents like red, blue, green, or white. If the garment has some floral details it works too.
- You could also get a robe in the darkest solid color you can get (there are also red and white ninjas).
Step 4. Put the robe over your turtleneck and cargo pants
You can put it on like any robe, and then tuck it in until you feel comfortable. Tie the belt firmly around your waist with a knot.
Step 5. Put on a pair of gloves
They can be of any material: be it leather or wool, it does not matter, as long as they are black. Tuck the wrists of each glove into the turtleneck sleeves.
Step 6. Put a black scarf around your upper torso
When you have it around your upper torso (it covers the lower half of your ribs down to your belly button), the front will look like a fairly wide belt. Take the ends of the scarf and tie them tightly across the back. Use safety pins to secure the scarf.
For a more flawless look, tuck the ends under the main part of the belt so they don't sag
Step 7. Tuck your pants into your boots then put them on
Before you tie the laces, tuck the ends of your pants into your boots. Then tie the laces as you normally would, so the pants will stay secure.
Part 2 of 3: Making the Hood and Mask
Step 1. Put on a long-sleeved shirt covering your nose and ears
In other words, the shirt must reach the middle of the head. The necklace should rest on the arch of your nose and your ears.
Step 2. Pull the back of the shirt toward the front
It should be just above your eyebrows. Don't adjust it yet, just put it in position.
Step 3. Take the sleeves and tie them behind your head
Hide what is sticking out under itself so that it just barely covers your forehead. It's okay if you let the sleeves hang down. You can leave them as is or tuck them inside the turtleneck.
Part 3 of 3: Add accessories
Step 1. You can create pants protectors with black or red shirts
The protectors are tied to the calves and around the thighs, just above the knees. You will need four shirts. You can also wear scarves if you have them on hand. Red and black are the ideal colors, but white works too.
Step 2. Put a shirt over your upper thigh above the knee
The collar of the shirt should be pointing towards your belly button at an angle. Tuck in the edge of the collar to prevent it from showing. Hide any loose parts so the band measures 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.5 cm).
The leg should not be inside the shirt; the shirt should just be covering it
Step 3. Take the sleeves and drape the shirt around the upper legs
Tie the sleeves in the back. Hide the knots and any loose parts so that the protector measures 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.5 cm).
Next, tie the bottom ends of the shirt behind the leg. Make sure you hide any loose ends. Do it on both legs
Step 4. Take another shirt and do the same on your lower legs
Wrap a shirt around the middle of your ankles. Tie the sleeves in the back, as you did with the thigh guards. Hide the knots and do the same on the other calf.
Step 5. Make ninja weapons to complete your look
You can make ninja stars or a sword out of cardboard. You can also buy plastic ones at a costume store. If you have nunchucks you can take them with you. If you don't get these weapons, the ninjas used to use long wooden staves, so you can grab a broomstick or look for a branch that resembles a walking stick.
Step 6. Make your own weapon
Take a piece of cardboard and cut it into a ninja weapon shape. Use masking tape to shine it like silver. You can use black tape or cloth to make the handle of the weapon.
Advice
- Make sure to hide any parts that are dangling. If any part won't stop coming off, use a safety pin to secure it.
- Do not tie the shirts too tightly, this way you avoid cutting off your circulation.
- If you choose some other color for the main garments (shirt or pants), make sure that you also change the main details to the corresponding color.
- You can wear white in snowy weather, so you blend in with your surroundings.
