If you are a fan of Harry Potter, you may be thinking of dressing up as one of the characters in this series for Halloween. If you want to dress up as someone cruel, dark and unhinged, then Bellatix Lestrange is your best option. To get Bellatrix's look, you'll have to wear the clothes she wears, put on makeup to reflect her, and also style your hair the same way she does.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Putting Together a Bellatrix Outfit

Step 1. Put on a long black dress
The details are not that important, any tight black dress can go through the Bellatrix Lestrange dress as long as it is a single black color and fits at any height between the knee and the ankle.
You can also pair a solid black skirt with a black-only blouse if you prefer

Step 2. Wear black pantyhose
Put on black pantyhose to complete the Bellatrix outfit. Ideally, choose fishnet tights or sheer black pantyhose.

Step 3. Wear high-heeled boots
Bellatrix Lestrange wears knee-high stiletto boots. She wears a similar pair of boots to show off her seductive style.
- If you don't feel comfortable in stilettos, you can wear black ankle-length boots with a smaller heel and more support.
- If you are not interested in wearing high heels at all, wear a pair of black boots only that have flat heels.

Step 4. Put a black corset over your dress
Wear a black corset to accentuate your curves like Bellatrix Lestrange does. This point is essential to capture both the sensuality and the gothic darkness that emanates from it.

Step 5. Wear black fingerless gloves
Bellatrix's character has a daring toughness. Get a pair of long, solid black gloves and cut off the tips of your fingers to show this toughness. Ideally, the gloves should reach at least the elbows.

Step 6. As an accessory, wear a green necklace
Bellatrix normally wears a necklace and is also from Slytherin house. For this reason, you can wear any silver necklace that has a green pendant. Another alternative is to use a Victorian style necklace.
Victorian jewelry can be made from silver, gold, tortoise shell, gemstones, pearls, and various metals. Jewelry that has a “C” clasp or claw setting will look more Victorian

Step 7. Make or buy a magic wand
When dressing up as a Harry Potter character, having a wand is essential. You can buy one online or at a Halloween store. Another alternative is to make it yourself.
- If you're in a rush, go out and find a branch to use as a wand.
- You can make a wand yourself from chopsticks, a hot glue gun, and some brown paint. Create a knobby twig texture with the hot glue in the first 2 inches (5.1 cm) of the thick end of the toothpick. Give the glue a couple of minutes to cool down and finally cover the entire stick with brown paint with a paintbrush.
Part 2 of 3: Applying Bellatrix Makeup

Step 1. Put on foundation and concealer
Before applying Bellatrix-specific makeup, use a makeup brush or sponge to apply foundation and concealer that match your skin tone. Apply the liquid or powder foundation all over your face and neck. Then create an even canvas with concealer to lighten the under-eye area and cover up any blemishes.

Step 2. Use brown eyeshadow to add contrast and definition to your face
First, apply the brown eyeshadows to your cheeks to make them look sunken. Then use it to create lines along the edges of the nose, which will make it look more pronounced. Use a makeup sponge or a shag brush to blend these areas gently into the foundation.
You can also use a contouring powder for the same purpose

Step 3. Apply brown eyeshadow to your lids
Use these same brown shadows to darken your eyes. Use a small makeup brush to gently spread the eyeshadow all over your eyelid. Then apply them directly below the lower water line as well.

Step 4. Apply red eyeshadow to your lids
Also, add translucent red color to your eyes. Put red shadows on your lids over brown shadows with a small makeup brush, which will further contribute to the ombre look.
When you've finished putting on your eyes, practice opening your eyes wide and grinning big and grotesque like Bellatrix. The shades of red and brown will help make the look scary and unhinged when you do the Bellatrix face

Step 5. Pick a reddish brown lip color
To look like Bellatrix, choose a lipstick, cream, or gloss that has a reddish-brown color. Cover your lips carefully and then rub them against each other to even out the application.
If you have a cupid's bow, connect it with lip liner to more accurately resemble Bellatrix

Step 6. Draw your tattoos with an eyeliner
Bellatrix has two main tattoos and drawing them with a little black eyeliner can take your costume to another level. Use the eyeliner to write Bellatrix's inmate number on the left side of your neck. If your gloves don't cover your forearms, draw the scary mark.
- The dark mark is a skull with a snake coiled underneath.
- Bellatrix's neck tattoo has four characters. The first looks like a lowercase “t” with curved lines, the second looks like a capital “T” upside down with another horizontal line underneath, and the last two characters are the numbers “9” and “3”.
- The eyeliner could run, so be careful not to touch the tattoo when you've drawn it.

Step 7. Put on a coat of black mascara
Finish off your look with a quick coat of mascara. Wear a dark black one to add even more to the dark vibe.
You can also put some black eyeliner along the lower water line to help this effect
Part 3 of 3: Create Bellatrix's Hairstyle

Step 1. Spray a thermal protector on your hair
So that your hair doesn't get hurt by styling tools that use heat, it's always good to put on some heat protectant ahead of time. Hold the shield about 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 cm) away from your head, close your eyes, and spray all over your hair.

Step 2. Curl your hair with a curling iron
Plug it in and turn it on. When it's hot, take a small piece of hair and hold the end with the pliers. Rotate it and bring it up slowly until most of the strand is wrapped around it. Hold it for several seconds and then release the hair from the pliers. Repeat the process throughout your hair.

Step 3. Secure the hair with small clips
When you wind your hair, spray with hairspray, twist, and hold each curly section with small hooks above your head. Doing so will help the wave hold up. When you're done curling it, all of your hair will be secured against your head with the clips. At this point, leave the clips on for at least two minutes and spray your hair with hairspray one more time if desired.

Step 4. Crepe your hair to make it messy
Release the hair clips completely and start using the comb to crepe the hair. To do this, hold a strand by the end and comb it up from the ends to the roots. This will create a crazy and messy look that is vital to imitating Bellatrix.
Practice the creepy, high-pitched laugh of Bellatrix while you ruffle your messy hair. Combining these two elements will help you portray the dark madness of this character

Step 5. Hold the hair with clips in the crown area
Use bobby pins to hold your hair over the crown with a half ponytail hairstyle. Secure the bobby pins in an “x” shape so that the hairstyle will hold.

Step 6. Cover one eye with a large section of hair
Instead of pinning it back, let a section of hair near your face fall forward and cover one eye. This is a key part of the Bellatrix image.

Step 7. Use white eyeshadow to create a white streak
Bellatrix has a small section of hair that is only white in color. Pick up white eyeshadow with a large makeup brush and apply it to a section of hair that is close to your face.
You can also create the illusion of white hair with a dry shampoo or powder
Advice
- If you are unsure of your abilities to draw the scary mark, you can purchase a temporary tattoo with this design.
- Remember to act like Bellatrix while in costume. Call people "disgusting Mudbloods", yell and laugh high-pitched frequently, keep your eyes wide open, be sarcastic and insensitive, and speak well of Voldemort all the time.
Warnings
- It will take a while to get rid of the knots in your hair if you crepe it, so keep that in mind. It is also possible that it hurts because you will have to pull.
- Be very careful when handling your curling iron. If you touch it when it is hot, you could burn your skin.
