A toga is an essential garment for anyone who frequently attends fraternity or sorority parties in America, and it's fun for everyone on occasions like Halloween or costume parties. Although a sheet is not the most ideal fabric to wear a toga, it is a very versatile resource that you can use, because being caught unexpectedly is no reason not to be able to wear a toga.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Basic Robe (No Safety Pins)

Step 1. Grab the corner of a top sheet with one hand
Leave about 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) of space. Hold it in front of and above one of your shoulders.

Step 2. Place it and adjust it on your chest
Tie it under the opposite (right) arm.

Step 3. Cut it if necessary
If the gown is too long for you, hem it about 6 inches (15 cm) and try it on again. Keep testing until you have the right length, which is usually around the knee.

Step 4. Wrap the robe around your neck
Tie it under your left arm and once more in front of the chest.

Step 5. Take the second corner
After crossing it over your chest, under your right arm a second time and across your back, bring the other corner over your back. Secure the two ends with a clasp, safety pin, or simple knot.

Step 6. Hold the layers tight
Wear a pair of safety pins inside your toga. Try to make sure they are positioned so that they don't disturb you.

Step 7. Go to the party and wear your nice toga
Method 2 of 3: Saree Style Robe (with Safety Pins)

Step 1. Hold the corner of the sheet at the level of the left hip
It should cover the front of your body and not the back.

Step 2. Roll the sheet around your back to create a skirt
Roll it up until it overlaps a few centimeters (inches) above the first corner.

Step 3. Fasten it in place
It should be firmly attached to form a belt.

Step 4. Drop the excess fabric over your right shoulder
Method 3 of 3: Ancient Greek Style Women's Tunic (with Safety Pins)

Step 1. Decide on the length of your gown
It is recommended to use a single size sheet, although a double one can work (especially if you are tall). Fold the sheet lengthwise until it is the desired length for the final outfit. To make a short robe, fold the sheet in half, and for a longer one, fold only 6 inches to 1 foot (15 to 30 cm).

Step 2. Fold the sheet in half again
You should do this so that one half covers the back of your body and the other the front. The folded section should be placed on top and outside of the rest of the material.

Step 3. Secure the shoulders with safety pins
Use a safety pin for each shoulder or several if you prefer. Fasten the front part to the back with a safety pin, where your collarbone and shoulder meet. You can buy embellished safety pins for the occasion, or you can use coins or similarly sized round buttons (such as badges).

Step 4. Put your arm through the hole
The hole should be located on the side and formed with the point where the back and front of the sheet meet with the safety pins. Stick your arm through this hole.

Step 5. Tie the waist
Use rope, bow, or a fitted belt to adjust the gown at the waist. You will probably need to overlap the open sides a bit before tying the belt to make sure it covers your skin.

Step 6. Enjoy your toga
Have fun telling people that your dress is the closest thing to the ones used in Ancient Greece, if you like doing that kind of thing.
Advice
- If you are going to go outside, be sure to secure it with safety pins to prevent it from coming loose.
- If possible, use a single white sheet. This way you will get a toga as similar as possible to the real ones.
- Women didn't used to wear togas in Ancient Greece or Rome, but in this case you can. After all, it is a costume party and anachronisms are not what is important.
- If you are left-handed, you may want to tie the corner of the sheet on your right shoulder to make it more comfortable and fit better.
- A patterned sheet can add style to your toga, especially when you want your suit to be more special than another.
-
FilePompejanischer Maler um 60 v 3711 Men need less coverage and the gown should only go up to the knee or slightly higher. You can roll yours in the same way but a little looser, without the need for safety pins!
Warnings
- Make sure you don't trip over your toga.
- Make sure to wash the sheet before using it if you don't want it to give off any odor.
- Be careful not to trust that the toga covers all the parts of your body that you want to cover, because it could fall off.
