Whether you've chosen a thriller for your mystery-loving friend or a love story for your romantic sister, books are often excellent gifts for your loved ones. The basic wrapping methods are pretty straightforward, and you can add a more elegant presentation with a cute bow or unique wrapping paper if you want.

Method 1 of 3: Wrapping the Book in Wrapping Paper
Step 1. Wrap the book in tissue paper
Lay a couple of pieces of tissue paper on your work surface. Place the book on one edge of the paper and wrap it with the rest. If desired, secure it with tape. This way, if you glue it to tissue paper instead of to the book, you will avoid damaging the cover.
Step 2. Unroll enough paper to cover the book and cut it straight
Take the paper chosen to wrap the book and stretch it out on your work surface with the back side up. Then, once you have enough to cover the entire book, take a sharp scissors and cut a line from one end to the other, parallel to the roll. Make quick, small cuts to create a straight line.
If you're concerned about cutting straight, get a wrapping paper that has a grid on the back
Step 3. Fold the sides inward and secure with tape
Place the book in the center of the wrapping paper and fold one side so that it covers half the surface. Pull it gently to make sure it fits snugly against the book, and tape it down to the center. Then fold the other side over the other half and tape it in the same way.
Step 4. Fold two points on the same side to create a triangle
Mark one end of the paper across the width. Take the two corners of this end and fold them towards the center of the book to form a triangle.
Step 5. Fold the end up again and secure it with tape
Place the folded triangle on the book. Gently pull the paper tight and secure the tip to the rest of the paper with tape.
Step 6. Repeat the process on the other end
Flip the book over and fold the other end. Take the corners and create a triangle just like on the other side. Then, pull the paper tightly to fit it and secure the tip with masking tape.
Method 2 of 3: Add a bow
Step 1. Place the spool of tape on one side of the book and wrap it around
Position the spool just to the right or left side of the wrapped book and grab one of the loose ends. Pass it over the surface, through the center of the dial. Once you go over the edge slightly, stop.
Step 2. Pass the spool under and around the book
Hold the loose end of the ribbon with one finger. Pick up the book and roll the spool underneath and to the front. Hold each end with one hand. These must meet in the center to form a cross.
Step 3. Place one end of the tape up and one end down
Take the part that goes over the cross and pull it down, and the part that goes under it, up. This will create the cross on the surface of the book.
Step 4. Hold the loose end against the book and pass the other part underneath
With one finger, hold the loose end against the book to hold it in place. Pick up the book and take the spool. Pass it over, behind, and bring it forward again, to the center of the cross.
Step 5. Hold the spool over the center of the cross and cut the ribbon
Press your finger against the center of the cross to hold everything in place, and unroll another 2 feet (60 cm) of tape. Use sharp scissors to cut this part.
Step 6. Pass the new loose end of the ribbon under the cross
Take the new tip and run it through the upper right corner of the cross. Then, pull it to the lower left corner.
Step 7. Tie a knot
Hold both loose ends of the ribbon and gently pull to tighten it. Press down on the center of the cross with your index finger to keep it snug. Next, create a simple knot.
Step 8. Tie a bow and trim the ends
Take both ends again, but this time create a simple bow. Adjust it well and fix it in such a way that both loops are even. Cut the loose ends to be the same size.
For a more elegant finish, take one end of the bow and fold it in half in a vertical orientation. Then make a diagonal cut from left to right. Straighten the tape and repeat this step on the other end
Method 3 of 3: Employing Creative Methods to Wrap a Book
Step 1. Incorporate some text on the wrapping paper as a clue that it is a book
If you are a creative person and want to create a fun and unique cover, consider creating your own wrapping paper or using a subtle book design. For example, you could wrap the book in newspapers and decorate it with a colorful bow. You can also create paper roses with text and glue them to the front of the wrapped book.
Step 2. Use a piece of paper that matches the theme of the book to reveal what it is about
You can reference the genre, theme or characters. For example, it's a good idea to use sheets from a coloring book to wrap a children's book, or use a map to wrap a travel book.
Step 3. Place the first paragraph on the wrapping paper to generate interest
Once you finish wrapping the book, transcribe the first paragraph in a fun font and place an ellipsis at the end. Also, enlarge the font and add a final annotation such as "Enjoy it!" and print everything. Cut the text along the edge and tape or glue it to card stock for an eye-catching edge. Lastly, glue it to the front of the wrapped book.
