Adding a title to your iMovie project allows you to accurately present the movie being played, tag specific videos in your project, as well as add credits. These options for adding titles can be used for both home videos and amateur or professional projects. The iMovie program presents you with numerous title options to start with, and then allows you to edit the text according to your specific project.
Steps
Step 1. Open your iMovie program and select the iMovie project you want to add a title to from the "project library" column on the left side of the iMovie window
Step 2. Click the "Titles" button designated with a "T" in the center panel on the left side of your iMovie window
The titles section will open, showing all the display options for incorporating titles into your iMovie project. The options are located in the upper right corner of the iMovie window.
Step 3. Scroll down and select the title display style that you want to add to your iMovie project
iMovie presents these titles as generic prototypes so you understand what the title display will look like once it is in your iMovie project.
Step 4. Press and hold the title display option you have selected and drag it to the video clip exposure portion of the iMovie project
Step 5. Drop the title demo over the video clip in which you want the title to appear during your iMovie project, releasing the mouse button
The iMovie program will show you a window to change the text and preferences of your title presentation in the section located directly to the right of the video clips.
Step 6. Double click on "title text here", "subtitle text here" and any other area of your title display that allows you to add text
This will allow you to customize the text areas of the title demo.
Step 7. Write the texts and titles you want to add to the clips in your iMovie project
You can change the font style, size, color and other attributes that can be customized by highlighting your title text and clicking the "show fonts" button in the upper left corner of the title editing section in the upper corner. right of the iMovie window. From the font window, select the changes you want to make to the title font to preview it on the title edit screen. Hit the "enter" button when you're done.
Step 8. Move the time bar cursor directly below the video clip section to be able to customize how long you want your title to appear on the screen
