This wikiHow teaches you how to convert a PowerPoint presentation to a video file and import it into iMovie from a Mac, iPhone, or iPad.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Convert a PowerPoint Presentation to Video

Step 1. Open the PowerPoint presentation
Do this by double-clicking the application with an orange icon that looks like or contains a P. Click on File in the menu bar and then in To open. Then select the presentation you want to add to iMovie.

Step 2. Click File on the menu bar

Step 3. Click Export…
- In older versions of PowerPoint, click Save as movie … and then in Keep. This will save the PowerPoint presentation in QuickTIme Movie (MOV) format.

Step 4. Click the File Format drop-down menu

Step 5. Click MP4
You can also save it in QuickTime movie format (MOV), but the MP4 format is of better quality.
- The drop-down menu of Quality it should stay as "Presentation Quality" to get a very good quality video.

Step 6. Click Export
It may take PowerPoint a couple of minutes to convert your presentation to video.
Method 2 of 3: Import to iMovie from a Mac

Step 1. Open iMovie
The application icon is a purple star with a white video camera icon.

Step 2. Click on the Media tab
It's at the top of the window.

Step 3. Click File in the menu bar at the top of the screen

Step 4. Click Import Media Files

Step 5. Click the Import to drop-down menu:
which is at the top of the window.

Step 6. Click on a destination for the video
You can save it directly to a project or add it to iMovie's media library for later use.

Step 7. Select the location of the video
Use the menu on the left of the window to select the folder or location where you saved your PowerPoint presentation video.

Step 8. Click on the video of the PowerPoint presentation
It should appear on the right side of the window after selecting the folder or location where it is saved.

Step 9. Click Import Selection in the lower right
The PowerPoint video file will be imported to the destination you selected in iMovie.
- To add the video to another project, double click on the Projects, then click My multimedia in the upper left and drag the video to the project timeline.
Method 3 of 3: Import to iMovie from an iPhone or iPad

Step 1. Add the PowerPoint video file to your Photos application on Mac

Step 2. Transfer the video file to the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.
Your PowerPoint video must be in MP3 format to transfer to iPhone or iPad.

Step 3. Open the iMovie application on your iPhone or iPad
It is a purple app with a star and a white video camera.

Step 4. Click on the Projects tab
It's at the top of the screen.
- If iMovie opened a different video or tab, click the "back" link in the upper left corner of the screen until you see three tabs at the top of the screen: Video, Projects and Theater.

Step 5. Press + Create project
You can also click on an existing project.

Step 6. Click on Movie
It's at the top of the "New Project" window.

Step 7. Select your video and click Create Movie
It's at the bottom of the screen. This will download the video and add it to your iMovie timeline.

Step 8. Edit your video
You can edit the video in various ways.
- Press + to add more media files.
- Press ◀ to go back to the beginning of the video.
- Press ▶ to preview the video.
