Ariana Grande started out in the world of music as a child actress on Broadway, then gained notoriety for the Nickelodeon shows "Victorious" and "Sam & Cat." Currently, she is a rising pop superstar with a double platinum studio album and another on the way. Ariana is famous for her four-octave soprano vocal range and falsetto. Although her wide range is hard to mimic, you can sound a bit more like the pop princess with a little effort and practice.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Improve Your Singing Voice

Step 1. Use your body to sing
If you feel like your singing voice is awful, it's probably because you're not using specific parts of your body correctly. When you sing, stand up or sit up straight. Keep your mouth loose, flexible, and relaxed, and breathe out gently. Sing from the diaphragm to project. Sing from the diaphragm to project.

Step 2. Don't force your voice
When you force your voice vigorously or tense it, your body hardens. This in turn will tighten your throat muscles, and you will lose much of your tone and air supply. If you force your voice, it will sound out of tune, or it will break off and switch to another mode.

Step 3. Sing in tune
Several singers struggle with the proper melody and pitch. One way to perfect your tone and melody is to play notes on the piano and imitate them with your voice.
You can also use apps, like Vanido, to help hone your tone

Step 4. Use an instant vocal arrangement
If you really have trouble with your voice, try this vocal arrangement. Notice how the jaw moves when you say "A-E-I-O-U." Determine which vowels your jaw closes with. Probably with the vowels "e" and "u". Try again and take care to keep your jaw open. Practice singing while keeping your jaw just as open. This may take a lot of practice, but it will become natural over time. Having your mouth equally open for all sounds will help keep your voice even and consistent.
If you have trouble keeping your jaw open, put your fingers or a piece of cork in your mouth and try again. Practice until you no longer need a spacer to keep your mouth open

Step 5. Get a natural vibrato
Vibrato is the way to change the pitch of your voice. This allows your singing to be whispery and charismatic. Knowing how to control vibrato is a good thing, as some contemporary singers, like Ariana, have a small vibrato, so being in control is important.
- Your vibrato can sound unpleasant and feel like it's loose and sloppy at first. Don't worry, just keep practicing and it will get more natural and sound better over time. When working on your vibrato, imagine your voice coming out of your mouth like a laser.
- Practice vibrato techniques. For example, stand in front of a mirror. Press down on your chest with your hands, then lift it up. Inhale and exhale, while holding it steady. Sing a note and hold it for as long as possible without moving your chest. Halfway through the process, press down on your chest with your hands, but keep it elevated so that you feel the pressure. Relax the back of your neck and hold your jaw wide as you sing the note out loud. Imagine the air circling in your mouth as you tuck your chin in a bit and keep your chest elevated.
Part 2 of 2: Sing Like Ariana

Step 1. Understand what makes you have that kind of voice
There are several variables that make up the type of voice you have. The variables that create the sung voice include range, weight, tessitura, timbre, transition points, vocal ranges, voice level, and your physical characteristics.
- The range is determined by the notes your body can produce.
- Weight refers to whether the voice is light and agile or strong, loud and powerful.
- The tessitura constitutes the notes or part of your range, with which you feel most comfortable when singing.
- Timbre is what makes your voice unique in terms of quality and texture. Some people may have a harsher voice, while Ariana does not.
- The transition points are those where the transition from singing from chest voice to middle register to head voice occurs.
- The vocal register refers to the part of your voice that you sing with, such as the head voice, the chest voice, the mixed voice, or the treble voice.
- Voice level is the range of your spoken voice.
- The physical characteristics are related to the singing voice, as some people may have larger lungs and stronger vocal cords.

Step 2. Keep in mind that you will not be able to imitate Ariana's voice perfectly
We all have our own singing voice due to various factors, so it is very rare that you can reproduce someone else's voice 100%. Don't be discouraged if you don't sound exactly like Ariana. Hone your vocal talents first, and then you can emulate their stage presence and presentation style.

Step 3. Find your vocal part
Ariana sings in soprano, which means that she can easily sing high notes. This is not practical for all singers, so take some time to figure out the highest note that you can comfortably sing.
It is best to work with a voice teacher or choir director to find out if you are a soprano

Step 4. Improve the high notes
To make your head voice sound richer when you sing high notes, think the opposite. That means, if you sing high notes, imagine that your voice has resistance and weight. On the other hand, if you are singing low notes with your chest voice, try to make your voice sound soft and airy. Add weight to your abdomen so that the voice resists.
Imagine that your voice is an elevator and that as it goes up, the counterweight must go down in order for the elevator to reach its height
Step 5. Work on your mixed voice technique
The mixed voice is a mix between the head voice and the chest voice, and pop singers like Ariana use it frequently. This technique is difficult to master, so practice with a voice teacher for the best results.
- Use the forward placement, which you can feel by resonating behind your nose and pressing forward. To find out how it feels, hum, or imitate a mermaid or baby. Push your position forward as you lower your head voice to your chest voice. Try to add weight to the sound.
- Use plenty of respiratory support, especially when raising your chest voice to mixed voice. Lower your pitch to make it sound higher.

Step 6. Add the mechanics of a yawn
Imagine a yawn and your soft palate. The soft palate is located at the back of the upper part of the mouth. When your mouth opens to yawn, the soft palate rises. This allows you to project your voice and sometimes increases the pitch of your vocal range.

Step 7. Sing in falsetto
Singing in falsetto, the one Ariana uses, will add personality and depth to your voice. Falsetto is almost always high-pitched, in a calm, smooth voice. Imagine a 3- or 4-year-old boy singing and try to imitate him with the voice you project.
- To practice falsetto, sing to the tune of an ambulance siren. Making an “ahhhh” sound to the highest note you can reach without breaking or lowering your voice again is a great way to practice.
- Another great way to practice is with the vowels "e" and "o". The pronunciations of these vowels are perfect for a soft, singing voice similar to that of a child. Sing them from low to high notes.
Advice
If you find that your voice is limited and breaks quickly, try to find a professional. A professional singing teacher can help you identify exactly what you need to improve your vocal technique
-
- Sing as much as you can! The more you sing, the better you will be, like anything else.
- Try to relax. Think about the notes, but not too much, as your voice will sound rough. Ariana keeps her voice smooth and consistent, so if you want to sing like her, try a softer voice. You will find that you will be able to reach higher notes.
- Eat honey before practicing as it clears your lungs, which makes your voice clearer.
