Continue reading the article to find out how to process the DNI.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Processing the DNI for the first time

Step 1. I got the birth certificate
In order to obtain the DNI for the first time, present the birth certificate along with a photocopy. The person who is going to get the identity document has to be present, that is, if you are going to get the document from your newborn baby, you will have to take it with you.
If you go with your baby, do not worry about the delay, since you will have priority at all stages of the process

Step 2. I asked for a turn on the website
It should be noted that if you go with your newborn baby you will not need to do this step, you will be able to go to the headquarters directly. To take an appointment you must enter the page of the National Registry of Persons (RENAPER).
- Once on the page you must choose the headquarters where you want to do the procedure. If you are in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires these are some of the places where you can do it: Av. Callao 1065, Av. Paseo Colón 1093, 25 de Mayo 155. In Córdoba you can go to Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera 250.
- If you have any other questions about the places where you can go or about the rest of the procedure, you can call this number for free at 0800-999-9364.

Step 3. Fill in your personal information
You must enter the date of birth, your first and last name, gender, marital status, address, province and city.
This way of entering them allows that when you go to withdraw the document, your data is already entered and you only have to confirm them, making the process very fast

Step 4. Wait until your shift date
Depending on the time of year, there are usually shifts very close to the current date, even for the next day, so you won't have to wait long.
While you wait, take the opportunity to collect the sixty pesos that it will cost you to obtain the National Identity Document

Step 5. Go to the headquarters to complete the procedure
I went in the selected time slot, and began the procedures. The first thing you should do is check if the data you have entered on the web is correct. If they are, you will continue through the box to pay the sixty pesos.
If the data is incorrect, you will simply have to notify the person who attends you and ask them to correct them. Then you can continue the checkout

Step 6. Take the photo
When you have already paid, they will give you a number to wait in a waiting room, do not worry that you will not have to wait more than five minutes. When they call you they will make you sit on a chair with a white cloth behind and they will take the photo that will appear in the document.
If you think it didn't go well, don't worry, just tell the person and they'll take another picture of you. Of course, remember to comb your hair before taking your picture

Step 7. Complete the biometric data
As the last thing before leaving, they will ask you for a signature on a tablet. The signature will be digitized and placed on your ID. And they will also ask you to rest your index fingers and thumbs on a machine to scan your fingerprints.
You won't have to worry about coming out with your fingers full of ink like in the old days, you just have to apply a little pressure with your finger on the scanner and that's it

Step 8. Wait for the DNI to be sent to you
Biometric data is the last step of the process, now you just have to wait for your document to be printed. Between being printed and arriving at your home it will take no more than two weeks.
The Argentine Mail will send it and it can only be received by the person who took out the DNI or a direct relative. If when the postman arrives at your house he does not find you, you should go look for him at the same center where you went to process the document
Part 2 of 2: Do the procedure to renew the DNI

Step 1. I made an appointment on the web
If you want to renew your ID, you will not have to present any new paper, you will only have to present your old document or, if you have lost it, the report of theft or loss made at the police station in your neighborhood.
- You must enter the page of the National Registry of Persons and choose the shift at the headquarters and time that suits you best.
- When you choose your turn, you must select the renew DNI section. It will ask you to enter your document number and you will skip the part of completing all your information until the part to choose the date and place.

Step 2. Approach the headquarters
They will ask you if the address listed in the previous document is still your current address, if not, you will have to change your address. Consider that the document will be sent to that site.
Once your data has been corroborated, you must go to the cashier and pay the cost of issuing the document. As for those who do it for the first time, the cost is sixty Argentine pesos

Step 3. Make your signature and complete the biometric data
They will take a new updated photo of you and then have you sign on the graphics tablet.
To complete with the data, they will register your fingerprints and that will be the end of the procedures

Step 4. I received the document
After two weeks of waiting, the Correo Argentino postman will deliver the document to you.
The hours in which the postmen deliver is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., so if you track the package on the website you will be able to find out what day it will be delivered to your house and wait for it
Advice
- If you need to renew it urgently because you have to leave the country, you can request the express procedure. With this procedure you will obtain your document in less than five days, but you will have to pay an extra surcharge.
- If you also need to make a passport, you can take advantage by checking the option to carry out ID and passport at the same time. You will not have to lengthen the process, but you will have to pay the cost of the passport, which is 550 Argentine pesos.
Warnings
- If you arrive at the headquarters outside the selected time slot, you will lose your shift and you will have to carry out the procedure again. Make sure you are punctual.
- If you are a foreigner and want to obtain citizenship, you must have at least two years of residence in the country, verifiable. This means that you must present a copy of the employment contract, or the pay stubs. With regard to the rest of the procedure, you can do it in the same way as Argentine citizens.
