Many Acura car owners don't like the home screen of the navigation system. This article is interesting for all those people who have an Acura navigation system in their car and want to change the initial screen. The navigation system in Acura cars is an Alpine brand unit that runs on a Windows CE system with an SH-4 processor. There is a program called Dumpnavi that reads and modifies the files contained within the. BIN files that are located on the DVD-ROM of the navigation system. Some of the things you can do in this program are to change the wallpaper for a personal image, remove the words "Navigation screen" on the initial screen and change some of the words that appear.
Steps

Step 1. Turn off the car and turn on the navigation system

Step 2. Wait for the main screen to appear

Step 3. Press and hold the "MAP / GUIDE", "MENU", and "CANCEL" buttons for 3 to 5 seconds

Step 4. Wait for the Selected Diagnostic Items screen to appear

Step 5. Press the "Version" button by touching the screen

Step 6. When the “Version” screen appears, make a note of the file name next to the words “LoadingFileName”
For example: BNHN404A. BIN.

Step 7. Get out of the car and open the trunk

Step 8. Find the DVD player attached to the navigation system on top of the trunk

Step 9. Open the faceplate and remove the DVD-ROM from the navigation system

Step 10. Turn off the car and the navigation system

Step 11. Insert the DVD-ROM into your computer

Step 12. Open the DVD-ROM and you will see 9. BIN files

Step 13. Copy the 9. BIN files to the computer
These are: BN2HH12C. BIN, BN2HH110. BIN, BN2HH120. BIN, BN2HHMLD. BIN, BN2HN12B. BIN, BN2HN18B. BIN, BN2HN380. BIN, BNHH401A. BIN, BNHN404A. BIN

Step 14. Open the Dumpnavi program

Step 15. Click "Search" at the top of the program to find the "Bootloader" file

Step 16. When the open file appears, find the location where you copied the 9. BIN files and select the one that has the same name as you copied in step 6 and click the "Open" button

Step 17. Click the "Browse" button in the program to locate the image file you want to use

Step 18. When the file appears, select the “Bitmap” (image) file that you want to use as your wallpaper

Step 19. Once you select the “bootloader” and “bitmap” files, click the “Modify” button

Step 20. Copy the modified. BIN file, including all other. BIN files (9 in total), and burn them to a blank CD or DVD

Step 21. Insert the navigation DVD-ROM that you removed from the DVD player in the trunk of your car

Step 22. Start the car and turn on the navigation system

Step 23. Wait for the main screen to appear

Step 24. Press and hold the "MAP / GUIDE", "MENU", and "CANCEL" buttons for 3 to 5 seconds, as in step 3

Step 25. Wait for the Selected Diagnostic Items screen to appear

Step 26. Press the "Version" button by touching the screen as in step 5

Step 27. When you see the Version screen, get out of the car and open the trunk

Step 28. Remove the DVD-ROM from the DVD player and replace it with the CD or DVD that you just created in step 20

Step 29. Get back in the car

Step 30. Press the "Load Disc" button on the Version screen to load the modified. BIN file into the navigation system

Step 31. Wait until it is completely done and then an error message appears saying that the navigation disc cannot be read

Step 32. Open the trunk and remove the CD or DVD that you burned from the DVD player and insert the original disc from the navigation system

Step 33. Get back in the car and turn off the engine

Step 34. Start the car and turn on the navigation system
You should now see Acura's new navigation system on the home screen.
Advice
- If something goes wrong while doing this process, reinsert your original navigation disc into the DVD player, press and hold the "Map / GUIDE" "MENU" and "CANCEL" buttons for 3-5 seconds and you will return to the screen.
