When you have to email multiple images or upload them to a website, many times it is necessary to first adjust their size. Adjusting the size of an image always reduces its quality a bit, and if you enlarge it beyond its original size it will always look pixelated. Images can be adjusted using free websites, free image editing programs (if you are going to do it from a computer), or free applications if you want to do it from a mobile device.
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Use an Image Editing Website

Step 1. Visit an image editing website
There are thousands of websites where you can upload an image file of any format (including JPEG) and adjust its size. Search for "fit jpeg size" and you will see a lot of different results. This method is effective only if you use a computer, it is not very convenient if you are going to use a mobile device. Some of the more popular options are:
- picresize.com
- resizeyourimage.com
- resizeimage.net

Step 2. Upload the-j.webp" />
Most image editing sites allow you to upload almost any image format. Click the button "Choose file", "Upload image", "Browse", and so on. to browse your computer for the image file you want to edit.
If the image you want to adjust is on another website, you will first need to download it to your computer and then you can upload it to the image editing website

Step 3. Use the resize controls to edit the image
Each website has different sets of controls to adjust the size of the images. Sometimes you have to click and drag a box or use sliders to adjust the final size. Other times there are fields where you can enter the exact dimensions you want the image to have.
If you enlarge an image beyond its original size, the quality of that image will be noticeably lower

Step 4. Select the compression level (if possible)
Some image editing websites allow you to set a compression level. If you compress the image too much, you will get a smaller file size, but also a lower quality. Check for a slider or drop-down menu where you can select the compression level and select the desired quality for your final image. Not all websites allow you to adjust the quality options.

Step 5. Download the image with the new size
Once you've set your quality and size preferences, accept the changes and download the image. Click the "Resize" button (or something similar) to see the new image. A preview of the changes will likely appear before the file begins to download to your computer.
When you go to download the image in the new size, be sure not to overwrite the original. That way you can go back and make new changes if you are not satisfied with the results
Method 2 of 5: Use Paint in Windows

Step 1. Create a copy of the image file
Before resizing the image in Paint, create a copy of the file so you don't lose the original. That way you can go back and make new changes if you are not satisfied with the results.
To create a copy of the image file, right-click on it and select "Copy." Then right click on a blank space inside any folder, select "Paste" and the copy of the image will be created

Step 2. Open the image in Paint
Paint is the free image editor that comes in all versions of Windows. Right-click on the image file and select "Edit" to open it in Paint.

Step 3. Select the entire image
If you want to resize the entire image, select the entire image by pressing Ctrl + E. You can also click the "Select" button on the "Home" tab and choose "Select all." You will now see a dotted line around the edge of the image.

Step 4. Click the "Resize" button
This option is on the "Home" tab, but you can also access it by pressing Ctrl + W. Now a window will open that says "Resize and skew".

Step 5. Use the fields in the "Resize" window to adjust the size of the image
You can adjust the size by percentage or by pixels. If you choose "Pixels" you can enter the exact size you want the image to have. You can also enter a percentage greater than "100" if you want the new image to be larger than the original.
- By default, Paint maintains the original aspect ratio. Therefore, when you enter a value in one of the fields, it will automatically update the value in the other. This prevents the image from being stretched or warped when resizing. If you want to determine the horizontal and vertical size freely, uncheck the box that says "Keep aspect ratio" and enter independent values in both fields.
- If you enlarge an image beyond its original size, that image will appear pixelated.

Step 6. Click "OK" to view the image in the new size
Once you press "OK", the image will be adjusted according to the values you entered. There is no preview available, so to see the changes you will have to apply them.
If you are not satisfied with the results, press Ctrl + Z to undo the changes you made to the size of the image. You can also click the "Undo" button at the top of the window, next to the "Save" button

Step 7. Drag the edges of the page to match the new image size
The image size will change, but the page will remain the original size. You must click and drag the boxes that appear on the edges of the page to properly adjust the page so that there are no white borders on the sides.

Step 8. Save the edited image
Once you are happy with the new image size, save the changes you made to the file. Click on the "File" tab and select "Save As." Under "Format", choose "JPEG Image". You can name the file you want and choose the location where you want to save it.
Method 3 of 5: Use Preview on Mac OS X

Step 1. Create a copy of the image file
It is always a good idea to create a backup before resizing the image. That way you can go back and make new changes if you are not satisfied with the results. Click on the image file, press ⌘ Command + C, and then press ⌘ Command + V to create a copy in the same location.

Step 2. Open the image in the Preview application
You can usually open it by simply double-clicking the file as it is the default application for opening images. If the image opens in another program, you can right-click on the file and select "Open with", "Preview".

Step 3. Click on the "Tools" menu and choose "Resize."
A new window will open from which you can change the size of the image.

Step 4. Click the drop-down menu to select the drives you want to use
You can choose "Pixels", "Percentage" and various other units to determine the size of the image. By choosing "Pixels" you can determine the exact size you want the image to be.

Step 5. Enter the new width or height that you want the image to have
These two fields are linked, so if you change one the other will automatically change to keep the correct proportions. This is to prevent the image from being stretched or warped. If you want to freely modify these fields, you must uncheck "Proportionally resize" and both fields will be unlinked.

Step 6. Check the size of the new file
You can check what the size of the new file will be before applying the changes by looking at the bottom of the window. This is quite useful if you are adjusting the size of the image due to the file size limitations of some email clients or other online services.

Step 7. Click "OK" to apply the changes
The image will adjust according to the settings you entered. If you are not satisfied with the results, you can press ⌘ Command + Z to undo the changes and return to the original size.

Step 8. Save your file
If you are happy with the new size, you can save the changes you made to the file. Click the "File" menu and select "Save" to save your changes.
Method 4 of 5: Use an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch

Step 1. Install an application that allows you to adjust the size of the images
There is no built-in tool to make these adjustments from iOS. However, there are a large number of applications that can do this job for you. These applications are available in the App Store of your device. Some of the more popular options are:
- Resize It
- Image Resizer +
- Unblock

Step 2. Open the application and select the photo you want to edit
You will probably have to give the app permission to access your photos. This is necessary so that the application can browse your files and find the photos stored on your device. Find the photo you want to edit and touch it to open it.

Step 3. Tap the "Resize" button (or something similar)
Most applications offer several tools to choose from. Tap the "Resize" button to start editing the image size.

Step 4. Enter a new size for the image
Each application has a different interface, but in general you can choose one of the preset sizes or manually enter a resolution to give it a custom size. The width and height will be linked to keep the image proportions.
If you don't mind the image getting stretched or warped a bit, you can tap the link or padlock button to enter different values in each field

Step 5. Save the edited image to the roll
Once you've finished adjusting the image, tap the "Save" button to save it to the roll along with the other photos. Now you can find it in the "Photos" application just like any other image on your iOS device.
Method 5 of 5: Use an Android device

Step 1. Download an application that allows you to adjust the size of the images
Android devices do not include any built-in tools to make these adjustments, but there are countless applications that can do this job for you. These applications are available in the Google Play Store and most of them are free. Some of the most popular options for editing images are:
- Photo & Picture Resizer
- Resize Me!
- Image Shrink
- Reduce Photo Size

Step 2. Open the application you downloaded and provide it with the necessary permissions to access your photos
When you open the app for the first time, you will be asked if you want to give the app permission to access your stored photos. This is essential so that the application can load the photos that are stored on the device.

Step 3. Open the photo you want to edit
Use the application to navigate to the photo you want to edit. The process may vary depending on the application you use, but in general you only have to touch a button that says "Select Photo" (or something similar) in the main menu of the application to open the photos that are stored on the device.

Step 4. Select the "Adjust Size" tool
After opening the image, you generally have to choose the "Resize" tool in the application. Again, this process can vary depending on the application you decide to use.

Step 5. Choose the size you want the image to be
The application will show you the size of the original image both in pixels and bytes. Depending on the application you use, they will probably offer you different preset sizes to select from or allow you to choose a custom size. If you enter a custom size, you will be able to type one value and the other value will automatically adjust to keep the original proportions.

Step 6. Save the image at the new size
Depending on the application, the image may be saved automatically, or you may have to manually press a "Save" button. The original image will not be modified.

Step 7. Find the image you saved
Each application saves the edited images in a different location. Generally, to find the new image you have to open the "Pictures" folder and select the folder that has the same name as the application. Then you can share the image in the same way as you would with any image on your device.
