This wikiHow teaches you how to remove a group Messenger chat conversation from your chat list, using iOS, Android, or the web version of Messenger.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Use an iPhone or iPad

Step 1. Open the Messenger application on iPhone, iPad or Android device
The Messenger icon is a blue speech bubble with a white lightning bolt.
If you don't automatically access Messenger on your device, enter your email or phone number, and password to log in

Step 2. Press the Home icon
It's a little house in the lower left corner of the screen.
If Messenger opens a conversation, press the "Back" button to return to the home screen

Step 3. Click the Groups tab
This button is located below the search bar in the upper right corner of the screen. This action will open a list of all your group chat conversations.

Step 4. Tap the group you want to delete
This action will open the chat conversation in full screen.

Step 5. Tap the name of the group
It is located at the top of the chat conversation. This action will open the "Groups" page.

Step 6. Scroll down and tap a group member
The "Groups" page includes all members of this group chat. Tap a member to see the options for this contact.

Step 7. Click Remove from group
This option is written in red letters at the bottom of the screen. You will have to confirm the action in a pop-up window.

Step 8. Press Delete to confirm
This action will remove this member from the group chat.

Step 9. Remove all other members of the group
You must be the only member left in the group so you can remove it.
If you don't remove all members of a group, the group chat will continue without you

Step 10. Press Leave group
This option is written in red at the bottom of the "Groups" page. You will have to confirm the action in a pop-up window.

Step 11. Press Quit to confirm
This action will automatically remove the group chat from your chat list.
The history of the conversation will be stored in the Archived threads folder. You can access and delete archived conversations from the web version of Messenger
Method 2 of 3: Use an Android Device

Step 1. Open the Messenger application on an Android device
The Messenger icon is a white lightning bolt in a blue speech bubble in the Applications list.
If you don't automatically access Messenger on your device, enter your email or phone, and password to log in

Step 2. Press the Home icon
It's a little house in the lower left corner of the screen.
If Messenger opens a conversation, press the "Back" button to return to the home screen

Step 3. Click the Groups tab
This button is located below the search bar in the upper right corner of the screen. This action will open a grid of all your group chat conversations.

Step 4. Tap the group you want to delete
This action will open the chat conversation in full screen.

Step 5. Press the information icon
Is a " i"inside a circle in the upper right corner of the chat conversation. This action will open the" Group Details "page.

Step 6. Click the icon with the three vertically aligned dots next to the group member's name
This action will open a drop-down menu.

Step 7. Click Remove from group in the drop-down menu
This action will remove this contact from the group chat.

Step 8. Remove all other members of the group
You must be the only member left in the group to be able to remove it.
If you don't remove all members of a group, the group chat will continue without you

Step 9. Click the three vertically aligned dots in the upper right corner of the "Group Details" page
This action will open a drop-down menu with group options.

Step 10. Click Leave group from the drop-down menu
This action will automatically remove the group chat from your chat list.
The history of the conversation will be stored in the Archived threads folder. You can access and delete archived conversations from the web version of Messenger
Method 3 of 3: Use the web version of Messenger

Step 1. Open the Messenger application in a desktop Internet browser
Type www.messenger.com in the address bar of the browser and press Enter on the keyboard.
If you don't automatically access Messenger on your device, enter your email or phone, and password to log in

Step 2. Click on a group in the left pane
You will see a list of all groups and personal chat conversations on the right of the browser window. Find the group you want to delete and click on it.
- You can also use the bar Search in Messenger which is in the upper left corner if you remember the name of the group, the members or the content of the chat conversation.

Step 3. Click the information icon
Is a " i"inside a circle in the upper right corner of the group chat. This action will open the group details on the right side of the screen.

Step 4. Click on the three horizontally aligned dots icon next to a group member
This button will appear next to a group member when you hover over their name. This action will open a drop-down menu.

Step 5. Click Remove from group in the drop-down menu
You will have to confirm the action in a pop-up window.

Step 6. Click Delete to confirm
It's the red button in the lower-right corner of the pop-up window. This action will remove this contact from the group chat.

Step 7. Remove all other members of the group
You must be the only member left in the group to be able to remove it.
If you don't remove all members of a group, the group chat will continue without you

Step 8. Click on the gear icon in the right panel
It's located below the information button in the upper-right corner of the screen. This action will open a drop-down menu with group options.

Step 9. Click Delete from the drop-down menu
You will have to confirm the action in the pop-up window.

Step 10. Click Delete to confirm
It's the red button in the lower-right corner of the pop-up window. This option will remove the group chat from your chat list and permanently delete the conversation history.
