This wikiHow teaches you how to set up a Philips Hue Bridge, which is a device that powers the lights in a smart home. Philips has a line of smart bulbs that can fit into any of the standard light sockets out there. After connecting the Hue Bridge directly to the internet router with an ethernet cable, you can wirelessly connect to Hue smart lights in your home using the Philips Hue app on your mobile phone or computer.
Steps
Part 1 of 5: Connect the bulbs and jumper

Step 1. Install the Philips Hue bulbs in the available lamps
If you want to connect Philips Hue lights to the bridge, it will be easier to have them connected when you set up the Bridge Hue. The smart bulbs are designed to fit into any standard A19 and E12 light socket.

Step 2. Make sure the switches for the Hue bulbs are on
Hue smart bulbs will turn on automatically when they are properly connected, have power, and are ready to be paired.

Step 3. Connect the jumper's power cord
Use the power adapter to plug the Hue Bridge into any available outlet near your wireless router.

Step 4. Connect the bridge to your wireless router
The Hue Bridge connects to any available ethernet port via cable. Plug one end of the included ethernet cable into the bridge and the opposite end into an available slot on the router. Once all four lights are on on the bridge, it is ready to set up.
The Hue Bridge does not have built-in Wi-Fi
