A DIZ file (“Description in Zip”) is a small plain text file that describes the contents or files within a ZIP file. In most cases, a DIZ file can be opened with your computer's default text editing program, such as Notepad on Windows computers or TextEdit on Mac OS X.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Open a DIZ File on Windows Computers

Step 1. Double click on the DIZ file you want to open
Windows will open the file with the default text editing program.
If Windows does not open the DIZ file automatically, select the option to open the DIZ file with one of the following applications: Microsoft Notepad, Notepad2, Microsoft WordPad, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Write
Method 2 of 2: Open a DIZ file on Mac OS X

Step 1. Double click on the DIZ file you want to open
Your Mac computer will open the file with Apple's TextEdit.
If the DIZ file won't open with TextEdit, download and install Bare Bones TextWrangler, which is a free third-party text editing program developed for Mac OS X
Advice
- If you're experiencing problems trying to open a DIZ file, the file or registry keys on your computer may be damaged or corrupted, or the file may be associated with malware. Make sure your antivirus program is up-to-date and running on your computer at all times to reduce the risk of installing viruses or malware.
- If your computer's text editing program won't open the DIZ file, consider downloading and using a third-party program like Free File Viewer to open the file. In most cases, these programs are made to open and support a variety of different file formats.
