This wikiHow teaches you how to type the trademark symbols (™) and (®) on Windows and Mac keyboards.
Steps
Method 1 of 8: On Windows Keyboards with Numeric Keyboards

Step 1. Click where you want to insert the symbol
- If your keyboard doesn't have a numeric keypad, but has one as sub-functions for other keys, press Fn or num lock to activate the numeric keypad.
- Even if the keys are not labeled, the numeric keypad will still work if the function Block number is active.

Step 2. Press Alt

Step 3. Type 0153 on the numeric keypad to insert the trademark symbol (™)

Step 4. Type 0174 to insert the trademark symbol (®)
Method 2 of 8: In Windows programs using Unicode

Step 1. Click where you want to insert the symbol
This method only works in applications that support Unicode, such as WordPad

Step 2. Type 2122 and press Alt + X to insert the trademark symbol (™)

Advice
- The trademark symbol can also be created in Windows using the character map and in Mac OS X using the character view.
- You can also type these symbols in Windows using the on-screen keyboard. Click the Start button, navigate to the onscreen keyboard, and activate the Block Number feature. Triple click the alt = "Image" button on the on-screen keyboard. Type the 4-digit code on the numeric keypad. Hit the alt = "Image" key one more time. The symbol will appear.
