How to log out of Google Drive on Android: 9 Steps

This wikiHow teaches you how to remove your Google account from your Android to log out of the Google Drive app. Deleting your account will also log you out of all other Google apps on your Android.

Step 1. Open Google Drive on your Android

This app looks like a colored triangle icon with green, yellow and blue borders. Drive will open a list of your files and folders.

Step 2. Press the 3 horizontal lines icon

This button is located in the upper left corner of the My Drive page. A navigation panel will open on the left side of the screen.

If Drive opens to the contents of a folder, press the back button to return to the My Drive page

Step 3. Click on your email address in the left panel

Find your full name and email address at the top of the left navigation panel and tap on it. This will change the navigation menu to your account options.

Step 4. Click on Manage accounts

This option is next to a gray gear icon in the menu. This will open your account settings on a new page.

In older versions of Android, the sync menu might open in a pop-up window instead of the settings menu on a new page

Step 5. Click on Google in the settings menu

This will open a list of all the apps and services synced with your Google account.

Some versions of Android may display your email address next to a Google logo in the sync menu. In this case, click on your email address in the menu

Step 6. Press and uncheck the box next to Google Drive

This will disable syncing between your Google account and the Drive app on your Android. Files that you upload to Drive from other devices will no longer appear on your Android.

Step 7. Click on the icon with three vertical dots

This button is located in the upper right corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will open.

Step 8. Click on Remove account

This option will remove your Google account from Android. Syncing will be disabled for all Google apps and services on your phone or tablet. You will have to confirm your action in a pop-up window.

Deleting your account will log you out of all Google apps on Android, including Chrome, Gmail, and Sheets. If you don't want this, you can simply disable syncing for the Drive app without deleting your account

Step 9. Click on Remove account to confirm

This will remove your Google account from Android. You will automatically log out of Drive, as well as all other Google apps on your phone or tablet.
