This wikiHow teaches you how to open a website in a new browser tab using Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Chrome and Firefox

Step 1. Open Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox
You will find the browser in the area All applications from the start menu in Windows, and in the folder Applications on macOS.
The steps to open a link in a new tab are the same in both browsers

Step 2. Go to a page that contains a link

Step 3. Right click on the link
A context menu will appear.
- If your mouse doesn't have a right button, press Control when clicking.
- If you use a mouse with a button in the middle (including one with a scroll wheel), use it to click on the link. This should automatically open it in a new tab.

Step 4. Click Open link in a new tab
The website will load in a new Chrome tab. Click on the tab at the top of the browser to view it.
Method 2 of 3: Safari for macOS

Step 1. Open Safari on the Mac
It's the compass icon normally found in the Dock.

Step 2. Go to a page that contains a link

Step 3. Hold down the Command key while clicking the link
The website will load in a new tab. Click the tab at the top of Safari to see it.
Method 3 of 3: Microsoft Edge for Windows

Step 1. Open Microsoft Edge
It is located in the area All applications in the Start menu.

Step 2. Go to a page that contains a link

Step 3. Right click on the link
A context menu will expand.

Step 4. Click Open in a new tab
The site will open in a new Edge tab. Click the tab to the right of the current one to view it.
