This wikiHow article teaches you how to sign out of a Google account by removing it from an Android device. Although logging out is not possible, deleting the account will prevent you from receiving messages and notifications from the account.
Step 1. Open Settings on the Android device
Look for the gear icon
on the home screen or in the application tray.
- This method will delete all the data associated with the Google account (including contacts, calendars, settings and emails) from the Android device. You can add the account again at any time to reset this data.
- Android device must have at least one account that has been signed in. If you don't have another account, you will need to create one before using this method.
Step 2. Scroll down and tap Accounts
If you don't see the "Accounts" option and instead see a list of different types of accounts, you can skip this step
Step 3. Scroll down and hit Google
It's under the heading "Accounts."
Step 4. Tap the account you want to log out of
Step 5. Press ⁝
It's in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Step 6. Press Remove account
Step 7. Press Remove account to confirm
You have logged out of this account.
