Steps
Method 1 of 3: Enable the wireless connection in Windows 8

Step 1. Press the ⊞ Win key
Home screen will appear.

Step 2. Type "wireless"
When you start typing, a search bar will open in the upper right corner of the screen.

Step 3. Click Change Wi-Fi Settings
This option will appear among the search results.

Step 4. Click Enable or disable wireless devices

Step 5. Slide the button next to "WiFi" to the "on" position
Now you can connect your HP laptop to a wireless network.
Method 2 of 3: Press the Wireless Network Key or Switch

Step 1. Turn on your HP laptop

Step 2. Find the external switch of the wireless function
Most HP laptop models have a switch on the side or front of the computer that is used to activate wireless networking functions. If you can't find it in either place, it may be above the keyboard or on one of the function keys at the top.

Step 3. Slide the switch to the on position or press it
When you enable this feature, the indicator light will turn from amber to blue.
Method 3 of 3: Enable the wireless connection in Windows 7 or Vista

Step 1. Click Start
It's in the lower-left corner of the screen.

Step 2. Click Control Panel

Step 3. Click Network and Internet

Step 4. Click Network and Sharing Center

Step 5. Click Change adapter settings
It's on the left side of the Control Panel.

Step 6. Right click on Wireless connection

Step 7. Click Enable
Now you can connect your HP laptop to a wireless network.
