Sharing is a convenient way to access more books to read. Now you can share your Kindle books with anyone. All you need is the other person's email to give them access to an interesting new book. The person you are sharing the book with does not need to have a Kindle to enjoy the content, as there is a free downloadable reading app. You can also create a family library to share content with your family and increase the content of books in it.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Borrow a Book

Step 1. Sign in to Amazon.com
Visit the website www.amazon.com/mycd and look for the option “Manage Content and Devices”. Click on the "Content" tab. Then the books you have downloaded to your Kindle will be displayed.

Step 2. Select a book
Click the "Select" box next to the book you want to lend to your friend. Then, click on the "Actions" box which will display a menu of options. Finally, select "Lend this title".
If the option "Check out this title" is not available in the menu, this means that you cannot check out that book

Step 3. Enter your friend's email address
When you have clicked "Lend this title", a page will load where you can enter the information of the friend to whom you will lend the book. Enter the email and name of the recipient, as well as an optional message in the available boxes. Then, click on the "Submit" button.

Step 4. Tell your friend to verify if they received the email
The recipient will have 7 days to accept the borrowed book and 14 days to return it after accepting it. Once that period has expired, the book will reappear in your library.
You will not be able to access the book from any device during the loan period
Method 2 of 2: Set up a family library

Step 1. Create an Amazon home
You must be part of an Amazon household to set up a Family Library. An Amazon household can include up to 2 adults with individual Amazon accounts and up to 4 child profiles created from an adult account.
- Access the option "Manage Accounts and Devices" at www.amazon.com/mycd.
- Click on the "Settings" tab.
- Select the "Invite an Adult" option under the "Households and Family Library" tab.
- Have the second adult log into their Amazon account.
- Once the second adult has logged in, select "Yes" to share the payment method, Amazon content and services, and manage children's profiles.
- Click on "Create Home."
- A pop-up window will appear and ask you if you want to enable shared settings through the Family Library. When this happens, click "Yes."

Step 2. Visit the "Manage Accounts and Devices" page
Then, click on the "Your Content" tab.

Step 3. Select the content you want to share
Click the "Select" box next to the content you want to share. Then, click on "Add to Library."
If you don't see the "Add to Library" option, select the "Show Family Library" tab

Step 4. Choose the profile to which you want to add the book
Choose an adult or child profile to add the content to and then click "OK."
Advice
- Your friend doesn't need to have a Kindle to read the book you lend him. All you have to do is download the free reading app on your device and you will have access to the book.
- When buying a book, make sure it has the option to check out. If this is the case, this information will appear on the product specification page.
- Send the email to your friend's personal email address to ensure they receive it. Sometimes a person's personal email address is not the same as their Kindle address.
Warnings
- You can only borrow one book at a time. Make sure you lend it to someone who will enjoy it.
- You cannot borrow magazines or newspapers from your Kindle, only books.
- You will not be able to read the book you borrowed during the loan period.
- When you create a family library, both adults will share a single payment method.
