This wikiHow teaches you how to send a private message to the moderators of a private subreddit and ask them to join as a new member, using a desktop internet browser.
Steps
Step 1. Open Reddit in your internet browser
Type www.reddit.com in the address bar of your browser, and press Enter or Return on the keyboard.
Step 2. Log into your personal account
Enter your username and password in the fields Username and password which are in the upper right corner of the screen and click the button log in.
Step 3. Click on the envelope icon next to your username
The white envelope icon next to your username in the upper right corner will open your messages page.
Step 4. Click Send a private message
This button is located next to the tab entry which is in the upper left corner of the screen. A new private message will open.
Step 5. Type the / r / name of the private subreddit in the "recipient" field
By entering the name of the subreddit here, your message will be sent to all moderators on that subreddit.
- If you don't know the / r / name of a subreddit, open the subreddit in your browser and check the bottom of the URL link in the address bar.
- For example, if the URL of the subreddit is www.reddit.com/r/subprivado1/, you would enter / r / subprivate1 in the "recipient" field.
Step 6. Enter an appropriate subject line in the "subject" field
Make sure your subject line is short and to the point.
Step 7. Write a message expressing your desire to join the private subreddit
In the "message" field, politely explain why you want to join the private subreddit and request an invitation from the moderators.
There is no guarantee that your application to join will be approved. Most private subreddits have very selective criteria for accepting new members
Step 8. Click the submit button
This will send your message to all moderators on the subreddit.
Step 9. Check your message inbox for a reply
Give the moderators some time to read your message and check your inbox frequently to see if a response has arrived. If your request is approved, you will likely receive an invite link from one of the moderators.
