Setting appointments can be a confusing task. Where does the point go? What if I can't find the author's name? It is normal to have doubts about this topic. Fortunately, you just have to follow a simple formula. In the case of the World Health Organization (WHO), your name works as the author and it is easy to continue from there. Don't forget to place the citation data within the text.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Cite a website or WHO report

Step 1. Use “World Health Organization” as the author
For any quotation, you start by entering the name of the author. In this case, the report comes from the organization, so you will have to place "World Health Organization" at the beginning of the data followed by a period.
-
The first part of the reference will look like this:
World Health Organization

Step 2. Next, enter the year
This refers to the year of publication or the most recent update of the report. The APA standards prioritize the date of publication because it is a style that is often used in texts in the scientific field. The date is usually placed at the top of the page, but it may also be at the bottom. You will have to put the year in parentheses after the author. Also, you should follow the parentheses with a period. If the publication includes month and day, you can also put it together with the year. If you can't find a date, put “n.d.”.
-
At this point, the reference will look like this:
World Health Organization. (2011)
-
If the post includes month and day, it will look like this:
World Health Organization. (January 5, 2011)

Step 3. Add the title of the report
After the date, you will have to put the title of the report. Usually this is at the top of the web page or document. Italicize the title. This must be followed by a period.
- Remember that you should only use a capital letter for the first word of the title and for proper nouns.
-
At this point, the reference will look like this:
World Health Organization. (January 5, 2011). A report on health

Step 4. Put the web page address at the end
The last element of the reference is the address of the page from which you got the report. Before this you will have to write "Recovered from". Use the exact location of the document and not the general address.
-
When done, the reference will look like this:
World Health Organization. (January 5, 2011). A report on health. Recovered from:

Step 5. Add the print location
If the report is printed, skip the previous step. Instead, you will have to put the place of publication; that is, the name of the city and state or region.
-
When done, the reference will look like this:
World Health Organization. (January 5, 2011). A report on health. City of Health, Texas
Method 2 of 2: Create an In-Text Citation

Step 1. Begin the reference with the author
When you use citations, you must put the data of the publication within the text as well. In this case, you only need the author and the date. It starts with the author. You can include the name within the text and add the date in parentheses, or put both in parentheses separated by a comma.
-
You can include the name of the organization in a sentence as follows:
- According to the World Health Organization ([WHO],…
- The abbreviation in brackets is used to indicate to the reader that it will be used in the rest of the article.
-
You can also put the organization name in parentheses:
According to a recent report, health goals are not being met (World Health Organization [WHO], …

Step 2. Use the abbreviated form (OMS) in the following statement
Once you've informed the author about it, you can start using the abbreviation in subsequent citations instead of the full organization name.
-
From now on, you just have to put "OMS":
- According to the WHO (….
- According to the report, the main cause is the increase in infectious diseases (WHO, …

Step 3. Add the date after the author
In this case, the date is also used to help the reader determine which report the citation refers to. You will have to place it in parentheses after the name of the organization. If you can't find a date, you can put “n.d.”.
-
In this case, it is placed after the name of the organization, in parentheses:
According to the World Health Organization ([WHO], 2011),…
-
Remember that you can also put the name of the organization in parentheses:
According to a recent report, health goals are not being met (World Health Organization [WHO], 2011)
-
In subsequent appointments, the data will look like this:
- According to WHO (2011),…
- According to the report, the main cause is the increase in infectious diseases (WHO, 2011).

Step 4. Put a page or paragraph number at the end
When you use a verbatim quote, you must include the page or paragraph in the referential data. The APA standards also recommend using this information in paraphrased citations, but it is not necessary. If you can find it, enter the page number. Otherwise, enter the paragraph number. The number must be placed inside the parentheses, after the last quotation mark but before the period.
-
For example, when adding the page number, the reference will look like this:
According to the WHO (2011), "infectious diseases are a widespread problem" (p. 63)
-
If you are going to put all the data after the appointment, you can use the following format:
The report stated the following: "Infectious diseases are a widespread problem" (WHO, 2011, p. 63)
-
If you use the paragraph number, the citation will look like this:
According to WHO (2011), "infectious diseases are a widespread problem" (para. 30)
